Well I missed my XBOX 360 again!!

Ok I am so pissed with Microsoft and EB. I preordered my machine months ago and they keep shipping to stores like Best Buy. Why don't they take care of thier preorder people first. I know EB messed up and took to many preorders but damn microsoft told them they could do it. As for the japan launch. What did they expect? They did not even like the first xbox. Take care of the markets that actually care first.

This weekend I logged into my credit union and noticed I owed $2,020,202.00 on my credit card. Obviously this was a problem since I paid it off a few months ago. Oh yea and the fact it was 2 Million dollars was also a issue. Seems like my credit union was having a little issue with displaying the correct balances on the credit cards. Honestly it kind of scared me a bit but its back to $0.00 this morning so all is well...

Apparently Bell South donated a building for the new police station but after the city decided to offer free city wide WiFi they withdrew the offer. Well EB Games messed up and as such they will not have enough XBOX 360 units to give everyone. So it looks like I will not be getting my unit on November 22nd. Honestly it looks like I would be lucky if I got one before the end of the year. I am getting so fed up with EB Games I doubt I will continue to give them my business. My plan is to hit the Best Buy and Walmart on launch day and see if I can grab one there.

SQL Server 2005 & other stuff

Well SQL Server 2005 was released a few weeks ago and honestly I am a bit disappointed with the new client tools. Overall they are a lot slower and less intutive than the old ones were. Hopefully some new service packs correct these issues. The new 1.5 frimware for my D-Link DGL-4300 router was also released and it still does not fix the issue introduced in firmware 1.4 that caused the router to reboot whenever a Vonage adapter is hooked to it. So I had to open another case and downgrade back to firmware 1.3. School has been complete hell. However all this is made better because I know the XBOX 360 will be released in 12 Days!!!

Sony's causes DRM nightmare!

Ok many people are aware of the Sysinternals story about Sony's & First 4 Internet's new malware DRM rootkit. So here is my take. I think the whole Sony board of directors and ALL upper management should get hard jail time for this. I am talking a felony count with at least 20 years. These people are nothing less than scum and should be treated as such. This kind of behaivor is completely unacceptable and should be severely punished. The person directly responsible should server at least a life sentence with no chance of release. As for First 4 Internet I just hope those bastards get so much bad press no other record/movie company will touch them with a 10 foot pole. I think Sysinternals should be thanked for bringing this crime to the public eye hopefully it gets some congressional action.

On a semi related note my girlfriend purchaced the 50 First Dates soundtrack and it would not play in my BMW CD changer. It looks like its some sort of enhanced multisession CD. My Sony DVD player also had some trouble playing it at first. If it were up to me we would return it to Fry's.

Quake 4, Age of Empires III & F.E.A.R.

I got the Quake 4 Collectors DVD Edition yesterday by ID & Raven Software and I really like it. The graphics are great and the game is very fun overall, however I do wish the weapons had a secondary fire. I also purchased the Age of Empries III Collectors Editon by Ensemble Studios but have not really had a chance to play it yet but I did like the demo so I should enjoy the full version. The one game I have heard great things about is F.E.A.R. hopefully I get a chance to try that one tonight. On a side note John C. Dvorak has an article up on the media bias in favor of Apple and it's an interesting point of view. However I am a ardent Apple hater so anytime someone points out their shortcomings I am all for it.

Wow tech really does follow scifi apparently the US Air Force now has Transparent Aluminum. On a side note Quake 4 is suppose to come out today hopefully my local Best Buy has the collectors edition. I was not impressed with the Serious Sam II demo it just is not visually impressive compared to other modern games.

Computer Problems & Other Fun Stuff

The last few days I have had nothing but trouble with my PC. I will never buy a DFI board again. On a side note I have been going Castlevania crazy the last few weeks. Those are such cool games! But the best news is I got my new Razer Copperhead. Like all their previous products it's top notch.

Napa Sucks & My Girlfriend is Awesome.

This weekend my girlfriend & I both went to Napa for the first time. Honestly neither of us cares much for wine, but we just wanted to see what Napa was all about so we took a trip. Quite frankly that is one of the most boring and rude cities I have ever been in. For the record the guy at the Chimney Rock Winery was quite polite and my girlfriend really liked the display at the jewelry store we saw. However the city's overall atmosphere was not great. The part of the trip disappointed us the most was when we went to the Bistro Don Giovanni. The people were rude and the meal sizes were insanely small. Her $15 meal looked like a small Weight Watchers meal portion and my $14 meal was 5 yes 5 ravioli! It was so small she could not quit laughing when we were served. Oh yea right before dinner I almost messed up my car by driving over one of those dividers in the parking lot at the Napa Mervyns. Despite all of this we still had a good time. I really enjoyed the company of my girlfriend and we both got to try something new. Somehow she has a way of calming my soul and putting me at ease even when I get annoyed at the world for something small and stupid. I don’t know how she does it but overall I am a better man because of it.

Oh yea I got a Gameboy Micro last week and it’s really cool and small. Overall the new Gameboy SP with a brighter screen is a better unit but it lacks a certain coolness factor. I am happy with both.

Bluetooth, Symantec Antivirus & GameSpy Arcade

Life with Bluetooth has proven to be a disappointment. Mostly because it’s kind of flakey and annoying. The Widcomm drivers completely destroyed the Microsoft Bluetooth stack. So I had no choice but to continue using it once I installed it for the first time. The other thing that got me is it would tell me every time I tuned on caps lock. Why I don’t know... but after I found the key in the registry I was able to turn that "Feature" off. The other weird company policy of the day is Symantec's treatment of GameSpy Arcade. Apparently they think its adware and promptly/automatically uninstall it. It took me over 2 hours to figure out how to stop it. Hopefully I got it fixed.

PSP Firmware Update 2

The Sony PSP’s WPA implementation is really buggy. I could only get WPA to work on my DWL-G730AP travel router but even then it disconnects all the time. It won’t connect to my DGL-4300 at all. Speaking of the DGL-4300. Firmware 1.4 is crap! Constant router reboots which seem to mostly be related to my Vonage service so I downgraded to 1.3. Oh yea the PSP doesn’t work with the 1.3 or 1.4 firmware for the DGL-4300 if you are using WPA.

Ok I finally found a nice set of hand grips for my Nintendo DS. These handgrips feel really secure. They do add some weight but they make playing GBA games 95% better. I don't typically like 3rd party stuff but this thing is top notch.

Arnold Schwarzenegger visited HP Roseville yesterday. I got to shake his hand....kind of. It was really as he was walking by. So I guess not really but it was still cool. What shocked me is how short he was...I always thought he was a giant person but really he is only 5"9' which was a real shock. I liked how he talked about trying to make the teachers union live in the real world and how the districts in California are completely messed up.

I went to Circuit City in Roseville and bought a game. On my way out of the store I was unlocking my car I looked up and saw some old guy looking at me while he was just about to get in his car. PSP So much potential so little planning

I got my PSP today and I am pissed. It has a bright blue pixel and its annoying as hell. The sound does not go up loud enough unless you use headphones. Overall I think it will rip apart the DS but honestly it needs a little more work. I will be getting a new one soon hopefully cause this dead pixel thing just wont do.
